1. Subject matter and general rules of the guarantee:

The warranty is provided for a period of ten (10) years for GUMI system connectors. During this period, the manufacturer guarantees the durability (mechanical resistance) of the fasteners, allowing normal use in accordance with their application. GUMI boards are covered by a 2-year (two) warranty. The warranty guarantees the high technical quality of the performance of the individual elements of the GUMI system and the durability of the product (resistance to biological degradation), allowing normal use in accordance with its intended application. The guarantee is valid in accordance with the conditions contained in the document "Rules for the installation and use of the Gumi terrace.

2. Warranty conditions

The warranty period is calculated from the date of purchase of the product as stated in the sales document (invoice) issued by the seller. The warranty is provided on the basis of a warranty card, which must be completed and stamped at the time of sale by the seller. The seller undertakes to provide the warranty document to the buyer in the case of a non-standard terrace. This warranty card is only valid together with the document confirming the purchase of the product (invoice / receipt). In any other case, the invoice is sufficient.

3. Exclusions - cases not covered by the guarantee:

  • public service surfaces with a high frequency of movement
  • places exposed to chemically aggressive factors
  • terraces installed near production, storage or service facilities that can be a source of pollution, in particular - lubricants, cleaning agents, artificial fertilizers, etc.
  • areas where there is any movement of motor vehicles other than on foot
  • changes to the terrace surface caused by use, i.e.: abrasion, soiling, mechanical damage, localised loss of colour, etc.
  • colour changes of boards and connectors caused by direct sunlight, aggressive chemical or biological factors, long-term snow retention, direct exposure to coastal climatic conditions (sea breeze), direct proximity to water reservoirs, direct contact with vegetation (especially overgrown grass) direct contact with elements made of metal. Black discolouration formed as a result of prolonged contact with objects lying on the surface of the terrace.
  • mechanical damage caused by pressure or impact from heavy and hard objects
  • mechanical damage, scratches, scrapes, dents, cuts, surface damage and other damage caused by pressure or impact with a heavy hard object or caused by improper care, improper maintenance, improper installation, improper storage or transportation
  • mechanical damages not visible after the installation of the product, if they do not affect the possibility of installation and proper use of the product, discoloration of terracotta, facade and other elements adjacent to the Gumi boards is the result of washing of tannins or oil from the wood
  • to the effects of fire or exposure of the product to high temperatures
  • application of the GUMI system against its purpose (treatment of stairs, window sills, cornices, etc.)
  • the difference between the actual dimension and the theoretical dimension of the terrace on the project is the difference allowed for each dimension +/- 1 cm
  • dimensional changes to the boards related to the shrinking and drying of the wood do not interfere with the normal use of the terrace (the GUMI terrace is a "floating terrace" which is not permanently fixed to the ground)
  • natural face and surface cracks and minor structural surface delamination occurring in the wood as a result of exposure to altered climatic conditions which do not prevent its normal use.

3.1 When is the "TERRACE ACCEPTANCE" annex mandatory?

The "TERRACE ACCEPTANCE" attachment is to be completed by the seller of the GUMI patio and is required if the patio meets one of the following conditions:

  • the terrace is included in the definition of a large terrace (paragraph 3.1.)
  • the terrace has an irregular shape, sloping / or arched shapes
  • there is a staircase
  • treatment next to the terrace

3.2 STANDARD TERRACES AND LARGE TERRACES - general information

The terraces are divided into two categories: standard terraces and large terraces. If the terrace is included in the definition of Large Terrace, it is necessary to fill in an additional attachment "Terrace Acceptance" or a confirmation from the sales department, if the terrace is included in the definition of Standard Terrace, the attachment "Terrace Acceptance" is not mandatory.

The terraces are divided into large and standard terraces. It is assumed that a large, wide terrace is an area in which the width measured across the slabs is greater than 2.5 m (the length of the terrace measured along the slabs is not relevant - it can be any length).

With regard to the pattern of "squares", a terrace is considered a Standard Terrace if its dimensions: width and length do not exceed 250 cm.

All terraces that do not meet the definition of Standard Terraces are considered Large Terraces.

The calculator on the website automatically checks each configured terrace and displays the resulting calculation. In addition, information on whether the terrace is large is provided in a PDF file created by the calculator. For large terraces and terraces with steps, you must contact the distributor's sales department to complete the warranty card attachment before purchasing.

3.3 Large terraces - expansion joints

When designing and subsequently laying large terraces, do not forget to leave appropriate expansion joints on the side of the terrace, recommendations for the size of expansion joints can be found in the warranty card. When using the "bricks" and "rows" pattern, the expansion joints are used only "across the width of the terrace", with the walls (railing columns, ...) parallel to the direction of laying the slabs. They must be at least 1.5% of the terrace width at that location. Expansion joints are not required on the "terrace length".
When using the "square" pattern, expansion joints should be left on each side of the patio and a minimum of 1.5% of patio size at that location.

4. Care of the terrace during the warranty period

4.1 Frequency of regular maintenance - unroofed and partially roofed terraces

If the GUMI wooden terrace is located in an unroofed area, it is necessary to carry out a thorough surface care at least once a year. Thorough care should be carried out in early spring as soon as the air temperature reaches above 10 degrees Celsius continuously during the day.

4.2 Frequency of regular maintenance - Terraces fully covered

In the case of fully roofed wooden terraces, the period between careful oil maintenance can be extended to 2-4 years (depending on the degree of wear on the terrace surface). Maintenance is best carried out in spring after the winter season.

In the event of a complaint and the discovery of a significant defect that prevents normal use of the product, the manufacturer-seller shall replace the defective product with a product without defects. In this case, the client is obliged to dismantle and pack the defective product and send the product back to the seller at the seller's request. The manufacturer shall send a new product at its own expense in the same quantity as sent by the customer.
